Murthy set to be named chairman emeritus on April 30

BANGALORE: The board of directors of Infosys will meet on April 30, 2011, to finalize on the new chairman in anticipation of N R Narayana Murthy's retirement in August 2011. The company is also expected to announce the name of its new CEO on that day.
Sources say that the current CEO Kris Gopalakrishan will be made chairman of the company while COO SD Shibulal will be elevated to the position of CEO, leaving the COO slot vacant.It is also speculated that Murthy will be named chairman emeritus, a honorary post after he steps down from the board of the company and demits the chairman's job. Also said to be on the cards is elevation of CFO V Balakrishnan to the board. As one of the founder members, K Dinesh, has also resigned from the board of the company (he was head of quality, information systems and the communication design group), it's possible that Balakrishnan will fill his vacancy on the board.
