AHMEDABAD: In the first nine days of Nov, the city recorded 69 cases of dengue, 24 cases of malaria, 10 cases of severe malaria and 14 cases of chikungunya, according to the health department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
During the same period, there were 68 cases of gastroenteritis, 85 cases of jaundice and 80 cases of typhoid, according to the epidemic statistics released by the department.
In all, 16,806 cases of viral fever were reported, and 3,981 serum samples were examined.
The AMC collected 14,576 water samples from various parts of the city for tests. Of these, 40 samples lacked chlorine.
A total of 1,648 bacteriological tests were conducted, out of which 10 water samples were found unfit. From Jan 1 to Nov 9, Ahmedabad city recorded 780 cases of malaria, 111 cases of severe malaria, 2,078 cases of dengue, and 208 cases of chikungunya.
