Bhopal: In the ongoing drive against illegal firearms and drugs, the crime branch on Thursday claimed to have arrested a dairy owner and seized a country made pistol along with a bullet from his possession. Police were trying to find out from where the accused procured the illegal firearm and his motive.
Additional DCP (Crime Branch) Shailendra Singh Chouhan said that police received a tip off from an informer that a youth wearing a yellow T-shirt and a blue lower was standing near Patra Culvert in Malikhedi on Bhanpur Road and he may be carrying a firearm. Acting on information, a team of crime branch reached the spot and detained the accused. He was identified as Gulam Haider, 25, a resident of Aman Colony in Nishatpura. When police frisked him, they found a .315 bore loaded country made pistol from his possession having a single bullet. During interrogation the accused revealed that he was educated till class 8 and runs a dairy. Police were investigating the case. TNN
