Delhi assembly speaker Vijendra Gupta calls meeting to examine CAG reports today

NEW DELHI: Delhi assembly speaker Vijendra Gupta has scheduled a meeting with the Public Accounts Committee and the Committee on Public Undertakings to examine the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports presented during the recent Budget Session.
"Hon'ble Speaker, Delhi Legislative Assembly has convened a meeting on the following issues related to the Reports of C&AG on Friday 11th April, 2025 at 11 am in the MLA Lounge -I, Assembly Complex, Old Secretariat, Delhi-110054:- Presentation by Accountant General (Audit) Delhi, Status of Implementation of Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS), Status of ATNs on Reports presented during the Second Session of Delhi Legislative Assembly," the Legislative Assembly Secretariat of Delhi announced on Wednesday.
The attendees will include Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman, and BJP MLA Ajay Mahawar, Gajender Drail, amongst others.
On April 1, the Delhi assembly received an additional CAG audit report regarding "Prevention of Air Pollution from Vehicles".
On March 24, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the CAG report on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), which revealed operational inefficiencies and financial losses, prompting criticism of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration.
The assessment examines DTC's essential operational and financial elements, identifying inefficiencies and improvement requirements. The analysis encompasses fleet management, revenue generation, operational sustainability, and compliance with public transport policies.
The CAG audit encompasses the period from 2015-2016 to 2021-2022. The findings indicate significant irregularities in DTC operations. According to the CAG report, governmental mismanagement and negligence resulted in substantial waste of Delhi taxpayers' money.
The Committee on Government Undertakings will review this report and must submit their findings within three months. Furthermore, the Transport Department and DTC are required to submit their Action Taken Note to the Legislative Secretariat within one month.
