So any Kannadiga who has brought laurels to Karnataka and popularized the state globally can participate and inaugurate it. There is no wrong in getting the meet inaugurated by Narayana Murthy who contributed immensely to the IT field and put Karnataka on the map of the IT field by making it popular at the global level," Dr Chennaveer Kanavi told The Times of India.
It would help greatly to throw more light on generating employment opportunities for more Kannadigas if personalities like Narayana Murthy participate in such events. We should show our collective strength. All those who have achieved great heights in sports, art and culture, cinema, IT and other fields should participate in the event to make it grand success, he added.
Everyone must discuss the ways and means for the overall improvement of Kannada and Kannadigas in the meet, he said.
M C Hiremath, president of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce said the Meet would become one of global importance with the participation of IT czars like N R Narayana Murthy. Even people like US President Barack Obama have confidence in the skill of Indians only because of the achievements of N R Narayana Murthy in the IT field. We feel proud that the Kannada meet is being inaugurated by such a great achiever, he added.
Dr Ashok Shettar, principal, BVB College, Hubli said that NRN's participation would help participants think of ways to take Karnataka and Kannadigas forward. The meet should not be turned merely into a celebration but a strategic draft should be formed to take the state forward, he said.
