Ravi Thakur said that the border issue of Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh with Jammu and Kashmir is pending as when he was the vice-chairman of National Scheduled Tribe Commission, a demand was made to the Surveyor General of India to resolve the matter through demarcation.
He said that during the previous regime revenue minister Kaul Singh Thakur had assured to deposit the required money for demarcation to settle the boundary issue with Ladakh.
He said that an old copper pillar demarcates the boundary between Lahaul-Spiti and Ladakh. He asked whether the money for demarcation was deposited by the state government and whether a police post would be set up in Shinkula Pass especially considering the rise in tourist flow.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur while replying to the question said that it is a sensitive matter related to interstate border and soon a meeting would be convened.
He said that the government will also consider the issue of setting up a police post in Shinkula Pass. He said that the government would act on this issue on priority and when the meeting would be convened the MLA would also be called.
