VADODARA: The city unit of the
Congress created ruckus and registered a complaint against a garba venue on Monday for flouting election code of conduct. The Congress workers reached the venue of CREDAI-Aarkee located on Old Padra Road and noticed that the organizers had erected an installation at the venue that resembled lotus, which is the poll symbol of BJP.
Congress city unit secretary
Kalpesh Patel lodged a complaint with the election officials. in the evening.
Poll officials later visited the venue and took note of the complaint.
"The garba venue is clearly flouting the poll code of conduct by installing something that resembles the poll symbol of BJP - lotus. We have lodged a complaint with the poll officials and we hope they will take proper actionin the case," said Patel.
The stage at the middle of the venue has a huge installation made to give the place an aesthetic and decorative look.
CREDAI-Aarkee authorities, however, said the installation is not a lotus. "It is a geometric design and not a lotus. The installation isn't related to the poll symbol of any political party," said Vipul Thakkar, president of CREDAI-Aarkee.
District officer for code of conduct, N V Chudasama, said, "We have sent two teams to the venue to ascertain the allegations made by the Congress leaders." They will submit a report to me following which necessary action will be taken."
