It was after two years that Gargee Roychowdhury visited the 27th

Kolkata International Film Festival

, as her short film

Somoyer Smritimala

, directed by Goutam Ghose, was screened on Friday. “Last year, I was travelling for a work assignment when

KIIF

took place. So, this year I made it a point to be present at the festival as I feel it is the most prestigious film festival in India. I am so happy that the auditorium was packed when our short film was screened. Despite the heat, people came to watch the film which only proves Kolkata’s love and passion for cinema. The appreciation we got from the audience is beyond words. And this is the first project where I did playback too,” said the actress.

Talking about her character in the film, Gargee said, “I play Sumita, who is a school teacher. The film shows how she is coping with a lot of things in the new normal, one of which is her online classes. And the film also highlights how the dynamics of relationships changed amid the pandemic. Working with

Goutam da

was an enriching experience and I learnt so much from him.”
