A24 has released the trailer for Queer, a new romantic drama starring
Daniel Craig and
Drew Starkey. Directed by
Luca Guadagnino, the film explores love and longing in 1950s Mexico City.
The story follows William Lee, played by Craig, a lonely American expatriate living a quiet, isolated life. His routine takes a turn when he meets Eugene Allerton, a younger expat and former soldier played by Starkey. Their unexpected connection opens the door to the possibility of an intimate relationship for the first time in Lee's life.
The film also features a talented supporting cast, including Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, and Omar Apollo, adding depth to the story set in a vibrant yet reflective post-war era.
In a recent interview, both Craig, 56, and Starkey, 31, spoke about the unique experience of filming the movie’s romantic and intimate scenes. They praised Guadagnino's ability to create a comfortable and trusting environment on set, which allowed them to dive deep into their characters’ complex emotions.
Queer promises a deeply emotional narrative, exploring themes of love, loneliness, and the courage to embrace one’s truth. Guadagnino, known for his sensitive storytelling in films like Call Me by Your Name and Bones and All, brings his signature touch to this adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical novel of the same name.
The film is set to release in theaters on November 27, just in time for audiences to experience its powerful story on the big screen. Fans are already buzzing about Craig’s compelling performance and Starkey’s portrayal of Eugene, making Queer one of the season’s most anticipated dramas.
Mark your calendars to witness this heartfelt journey of love and self-discovery.
