Shawn Mendes enthralled Mumbaikars at Lollapalooza

"I am so happy to be here in Mumbai, dhanyavaad,” said Shawn Mendes as he mesmerised everyone with his striking vocals and soulful melodies during his debut performance at Lollapalooza, a music festival held in Mumbai over the weekend. The Canadian heartthrob set the vibe with There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back and had the fans singing with Treat You Better and Señorita.
Beyond music, he won the audience over when he said, “Dher sara pyaar, Mumbai!” and sportingly donned a Virat Kohli jersey. Shawn extended his India connect as he presented a classical-pop mash-up with sitar maestro, Niladri Kumar.
The event also saw British indie rock sensations Glass Animals, who brought their psychedelic sound to their Indian fans as they played hits like Heat Waves and Gooey. Rising pop sensation Isabel LaRosa captivated the audience with her haunting melodies and powerful stage presence. Global EDM icon Zedd closed the night with an electrifying set.
Indian artistes, too, had a blast. Jonita Gandhi set the stage on fire as she got the crowd grooving to What Jhumka?. Divine, along with Jonita, crooned their hit song Sitara. Talwiinder, Dot., Dhanji, Spryk, Sahil Vasudeva, Anushka, Sid Vashi, Frizzell D’Souza and Philtersoup ensured homegrown music took centre stage, delivering standout performances.
