Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, who tied the knot with director Shirish Kunder in 2004, recently opened up about her personal experiences adjusting to life in a South Indian household. In her latest vlog appearance at television actress Karishma Tanna’s home, Farah candidly spoke about the small but significant cultural hurdles she encountered after marriage.
While spending time in the kitchen with Karishma, Farah delved into a memory that highlighted one such moment. She revealed how her mother-in-law once insisted she grind spices using a traditional stone grinder rather than the more convenient mixer. Sharing the anecdote with a mix of humour and disbelief, Farah recounted, “Once my mother-in-law told me, grind these masalas manually, using grinding stones. Don’t grind them in the mixer. I was like, ‘Kiske paas itna time hai bhai?’?Karishma appeared visibly surprised by the revelation, while her own South Indian mother-in-law chimed in, noting, “Those masalas make food taste good.?To that, Farah quipped in return, “They taste good both ways.?br/>
Farah Khan shares hilarious post with 'Short Circuit' and 'Munni Bhai'

Farah had previously shared how her culinary preferences were often at odds with her mother-in-law’s traditional tastes. In the cooking-themed show Celebrity MasterChef, Farah shared a light-hearted but telling memory about her mother-in-law. “My mother-in-law has never cooked for me. She only brings food for her son. She gets idiyappams, coconut-based chicken, idli chutney, and all those things, but not for me,?she said.

She jokingly mentioned that her in-laws, who are Mangalorean and prefer dishes with coconut, might not be pleased with her food choices—especially her go-to dish, roasted chicken, which doesn’t align with their tastes.
