In a recent discussion about the box office performance of their film ‘The Buckingham Murders’, Kareena Kapoor Khan and director Hansal Mehta offered insights into the challenges faced by independent cinema in today’s market. Despite high expectations, the film struggled to attract audiences, ultimately grossing a disappointing Rs15.84 crore worldwide as per Sacnilk.
Kareena, a stalwart of Bollywood, attributes her sustained success to a blend of self-awareness and strategic relationships. In an interview with Miss Malini, she stated, “I am film intelligent,” emphasizing her understanding of the industry cultivated through her illustrious family background. This awareness is complemented by her choice to surround herself with insightful advisors who keep her grounded.

Kareena’s approach reflects a commitment to authenticity in her professional relationships. She expressed a strong aversion to “yes-men,” stating, “I’m not interested... I don’t need to socialise with those people.” This prioritization of genuine connections allows her to make informed decisions about her projects. “I know that I do this film for this reason and this film for this much, and it’s fine. I have reached that point,” she explained, highlighting her versatility in selecting roles based on audience preferences.

Hansal Mehta, the director of the film, shared his thoughts on the film's underwhelming box office performance. He emphasized that box office figures do not tell the complete story of a film's impact or quality. “Box-office collections don’t necessarily communicate the entire picture,” he remarked, recalling Ekta Kapoor's assertion that “numbers and profits are two different things”. Despite its lackluster earnings— Rs12.34 crore from India and approximately Rs. 3.5 crore internationally.

Following this, Kareena prepares for her next venture ‘Singham Again’, directed by Rohit Shetty, the film has an ensemble cast that includes Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar.
