Rahul Dholakia reveals Aishwarya Rai’s first film was stalled due to the director; Says, 'His arrogance was of another level'

Rahul Dholokia reveals that Aishwarya Rai's actual Bollywood debut was to be with Suniel Shetty in 'Hum Bacche Hai Ek Daal Ke', directed by Shashilal Nair. However, due to Nair’s arrogance and his impractical demands, such as wanting 1000 room-sized boulders for a Grand Canyon scene, the film never released. “Half of the time would go into these things,” Rahul Dholokia recalled.

Filmmaker Rahul Dholokia has recently made a shocking revelation about Aishwarya Rai’s debut Bollywood film, which never saw the light of day. Aishwarya’s debut in Bollywood is ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’, however, Rahul Dholokia has now revealed that she was supposed to mark her debut with another film co-starring Suniel Shetty.
In a recent conversation with Mukesh Chhabra, director Rahul Dholakia revealed that Aishwarya Rai was supposed to debut in Bollywood with a film helmed by Shashilal Nair, which never released, due to the director’s arrogance! The film was titled ‘Hum Bacche Hai Ek Daal Ke’, and had Aishwarya Rai and Suniel Shetty in the lead role. Suniel asked him to handle the production, and so he went ahead.

Rahul Dholokia recalled that the director’s arrogance was of ‘another level’, and that kind of attitude doesn’t work in America. He recalled that the director wanted to shoot an action sequence at the Grand Canyon where boulders fall and wanted the boulders to be the size of a room. Shashilal Nair asked for 1000 boulders of that size, and when he was asked how many takes he would take for that scene he got offended. “Half of the time would go into these things,” Rahul Dholokia recalled.

Rahul Dholokia is a prominent documentary filmmaker, and he has also directed the feature film ‘Raees’, starring Shah Rukh Khan. He has also helmed the national award-winning film ‘Parzania’. He is currently working on an upcoming biopic, based on the life of Vijay Salaskar.
