Actor, writer and producer Chinmay Mandlekar who has created a niche in the Marathi industry by portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen is making headlines for naming his son name, Jehangir.
Despite his significant contributions to the industry, Chinmay has revealed that he has been facing relentless trolling and unwarranted attacks on his family.
In response to the ongoing harassment, Chinmay took to his official Instagram account to address the issue directly. Reacting to ongoing trolling aimed at his son, he highlighted the anguish it has brought upon his family. He firmly stated that while the critique of his professional endeavours is acceptable, targeting his personal life — including questioning his son’s name and his wife’s character — is unwarranted.
Chinmay reiterated that he has previously elaborated on the rationale behind his son’s name and encouraged those curious to refer back to his earlier remarks. He also highlighted the hypocrisy in targeting his family now, years after his son’s birth, and questioned the relevance of his professional roles to personal matters
The 'Kashmir Files' actor who shares a deep reverence for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, reflected in his portrayal on screen and even in his personal life, feels that this unfortunate situation where his faith and devotion are misconstrued and his family becomes the target of undue scrutiny.
Chinmay concluded by expressing gratitude for the love he has received for his portrayals and went on to say that henceforth, he will not play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj roles on the big screens.
