Originally an America-born Jewish woman, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati's life took an important turn during her visit to India in 1996 when she underwent a deep spiritual awakening, leading her to embrace Hinduism and dedicate her life to spiritual service.
In her book ‘Hollywood to the Himalayas’, she did not disclose her name, She talked up about her past, including her experiences with sexual abuse and an eating disorder during her childhood.

Coming from Los Angeles, California, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati graduated from Stanford University and was pursuing a Ph.D. in psychology when she traveled to India with her husband, Jim. According to Religion News, she was a vegetarian who enjoyed Indian cuisine but was unfamiliar with Hinduism when she first arrived in India. However, her life changed after a profound spiritual experience on the banks of the Ganga river. This crucial moment led her to divorce her husband and relocate to India, where she became a Hindu renunciate.

Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati was appointed by Swami Chidanand Saraswati and has since become a prominent member of the Parmarth Niketan Ashram. Over the past 25 years, she has been dedicated to spiritual service, wisdom teaching, sacred action, and deep spiritual practice. As a renowned spiritual orator, author, and motivational speaker, she has touched the hearts of many through her teachings and humanitarian efforts.
Sadhviji spends most of her time in Rishikesh, where she spearheads numerous humanitarian initiatives. She serves as the President of the Divine Shakti Foundation, an organization that operates free schools, vocational training programs, and empowerment initiatives.
