Chhattisgarh: 14 Maoists killed in encounter in Bastar region

NEW DELHI: Fourteen Maoists were killed on Friday in an encounter with the security forces in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, a senior police official told news agency PTI.

The exchange of fire began at around 1 pm in the Abhujmaad forest, located in the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border area within Narayanpur district.

The official further said that a combined unit of security personnel is engaged in the operation and reported to be unharmed.

The “intermittent exchange of fire is still going on.” Further details on the matter are awaited.
