Amavasya in August 2024: SignificanceAmavasya Tithi is one of the sacred day when devotees offer prayers to their ancestors. This day is purely dedicated to worship forefathers. This day is considered auspicious to perform various puja rituals which are dedicated to ancestors. People perform Pitru Tarpan, hawan, Gayatri Jaap, visiting temples dedicated to forefathers, and taking bath in holy rirver Ganga as Ganga river is considered as Mokshadayini so when people visit Ganga Ghat and they perform Pitru Puja then it liberates the deceased soul.
Amavasya in August 2024: Puja Rituals 1. Wake up early in the morning and take a bath in Ganga river or if you are unable to visit Ganga Ghat you can take holy bath at home.
2. Clean the home before starting puja rituals.
3. Prepare sattvik food for Brahmin.
4. Elder member of the family invite the Brahmin and perform Pitru Tarpan.
5. Offer food to Brahmin and give them clothes and shoes whatever you want along with Dakshina.
6. Seek blessings by touching the feet of the Brahmin.
7. Feed cows, dogs, crows and ants.
8. Later on, you can break the fast by having sattvik food.
9. This ritual should be performed during Madhyahna period as this particular period is dedicated to ancestors.
10. You should not eat any type of tamasik food item as this is prohibited on this day.
