NEW DELHI: The frightening scenes unfolded during the Big Bash League match between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers on Friday as Thunder's Daniel Sams and
Cameron Bancroft were involved in a nasty collision.
The incident occurred during the 16th over of the Perth Scorchers' innings, when Sams, running in from the boundary, collided with his teammate Bancroft while attempting to catch the ball.
Bancroft was unaware that Sams was directly in front of him until it was too late, leading to a head clash in a shocking moment at Perth Stadium.
Both players were seen writhing in pain as teammates hurried to their aid. Moments later, players gestured for medical staff, with Sams appearing unconscious before his head hit the turf.
Sams had to be stretchered off the field, while Bancroft was assisted off with a bleeding nose.
Play was halted for nearly 15 minutes as medical staff from both the Perth Scorchers and paramedics attended to the players.
Both were later taken to the hospital, having suffered concussions and possible fractures. The Sydney Thunder confirmed that both players were conscious and speaking when they were transported.
