The official X handle of Milwaukee Bucks has recently posted, “Damian Lillard (concussion protocol) is out for tomorrow’s game,” a report that grabbed the headlines soon as Lillard has been one of the best in the business and his absence has sparked obvious concern.
The point guard has reportedly sustained a head injury but the extent of it or how he got the injury were later reported by NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Haynes has also reported the news on his social media, “Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has entered the concussion protocol and will be out for Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors,” he wrote on X.
Sources told Haynes about the extend of the NBA star’s injury. “Damian Lillard received hit to head near end of third quarter against Celtics on Sunday. Experienced headaches and dizziness today. Tests confirmed a concussion. There’s a possibility he could be cleared by Wednesday’s game against Pistons,” the insider shared on X providing a more detailed picture of the injury.
In ten games, Lillard averaged 26.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. He shot 44.4% from the field and 34.8% from beyond the arc. As for his team, The Bucks are just 2-8 and they have recently faced defeat against the New York Knicks by a score of 116-94.
So far, Lillard’s return is vague as the NBA, like any other sports league, takes the concussion protocol very seriously. So, it is unclear when the star will be medically cleared to return to the court. He is currently under the supervision of healthcare professionals and he would be cleared depending on the severity of his injury. Still, it is fair to assume that Lillard would at least miss three games. Regardless, the Bucks are set to face the Raptors today.
