A Collegiate Career of the Stars

Allen played three years at Wisconsin, and then the Jets selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. For his Badgers, Allen accumulated 3,494 rushing yards and recorded 35 touchdowns. He rushed for 984 as a senior, but that season played out with head coach Luke Fickell's first year in charge of the program-with both the team and Allen having to make an adjustment.

Season of Transition

Wisconsin finished the 2023 season at 7-6 and ended with a blowout loss to LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Allen's final year of college was telling, in part because the running back's carries dived to 181 after standing at 230 his sophomore year. That also brought Allen's responsibility in the offense into question, especially since he touched the ball just seven times in a dismal loss to Washington State in the second game of the season.

Coach Fickell's Assessment

During his press conference after the game against Washington State, Coach Fickell admitted that Allen was frustrated.

"He's disappointed… he wants to touch the ball a lot more and feels like he can be more of an impact”, Fickell said they are capable of making fuller use of Allen, though everyone needs to take the opportunities with them.

Allen's Promising NFL Experience

Moving on to the NFL, Allen made his impact in the early weeks with his New York team. His action time was noticed over weeks with a good performance by him at Week 3 where he gained 55 yards on 11 carries against the New England Patriots. He also took down history when he became the youngest player ever to score from scrimmage since 1930 in a win against the Tennessee Titans on September 15.
