Scott Laughton is now staring into the unknown, as far as the Philadelphia Flyers are concerned about him in the team and outside as the trade deadline for the NHL approaches on March 7. He is now rumored all over with an interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a possible trade. He is probably a good two-way player who can prove to be beneficial to the Leafs, who want to strengthen their center department for the playoffs. So, the speculation has really intensified, and even to the sounds of Laughton, his messages hint at his openness to a trade.

Toronto Maple Leafs Take a Dubious Look at Scott Laughton to Bulk Up Center Depth

Scott Laughton definitely has been part of the Philadelphia Flyers this season. He played 59 games and scored 11 goals, with 27 overall points. He is one of the best two-way players which makes him a good targeting option for the Maple Leafs because of their need to increase the number of centers. With Laughton's reputation growing on the trade market, that is exactly what the Maple Leafs were seeking when they started looking for center depth.

Darren Dreger of TSN has reported sources very close to Laughton. Those people believe he'd actually be eager to join the Maple Leafs if a trade pulled through. Still, the asking price by the Flyers is high: a first-round pick or top prospect Fraser Minten. The only solution the Leafs may have is to work with a three-team trade or a salary retention option to fit under their salary cap since Laughton has a $3 million cap number.

Laughton admitted he had thought of trades but said it seemed more serious this year. Still, as much uncertainty as there is, he is concentrating on what he can do at the moment with the Flyers.
