The two behemoths of
WWE, Goldberg and Gunther, hinted at a future in-ring showdown a few months back. There are some apt reasons why it deserves a slot at The Show of Shows, WrestleMania 41.
The road to WWE’s grand spectacle, WrestleMania 41, kicked off with the 2025 Royal Rumble event on February 1st at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana Indianapolis. Despite the event being months away, WWE fans have already begun to speculate on some of the top-tier matches that can take place at the event.
One of those matches rumored to happen is between World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. The duo had an encounter back at the WWE Bad Blood 2024 Premium Live Event and almost came to blows following The Ring General’s harsh comments towards him. With WrestleMania 41 coming up, here are the three reasons that this in-ring showdown should take place at The Show of Shows:
3. Clash of the behemoths
Many members of the WWE Universe agree that Goldberg and Gunther are very similar. The two are considered dominant inside the ring, ascended to the top of the food chain faster than many superstars and have set impeccable records in their respective careers. Moreover, this rumored match would be a hard-hitting and power-packed match featuring heavy punches and devastating moves that could be a blockbuster for WrestleMania 41.
2. A legendary opponent for the top star Gunther
Gunther is one of the top-tier WWE superstars of the modern era. In his WWE career so far, he has been a champion for close to 70% of the time. He has smashed records, won multiple championships and delivered spectacular showdowns against top stars like Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso and Damian Priest. However, much like some of his peers, he has yet to have a match against a legendary name, and Bill Goldberg seems an apt opponent for The Ring General to square off in a World title match at WrestleMania 41.
1. A World title match with huge star power
Goldberg is one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling. He is a former WCW Champion, World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Universal Champion accomplishing an illustrious career that was immortalised by a Hall of Fame induction. On the other hand, Gunther is one of the marquee names in the modern era. The star power of the past and present colliding for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41 would be nothing short of a dream showdown for the fans in Las Vegas.
