According to a report by the news agency PTI, the company in Turkiye where Adnan Muhammad (the groom) works denied his leave request. With the bride's ailing grandfather's desire for the wedding to proceed, the families agreed to a virtual "nikah" ceremony.

How the couple got married on a video call

The groom's family travelled from Bilaspur to Mandi, where the bride resided. The couple connected via video call, and a qazi performed the rituals, with the couple exchanging vows saying "qubool hai" thrice remotely.

Akram Mohammad, the uncle of the bride, said the wedding was made possible only due to the advanced technology.

Virtual marriages via video calls in the past

A similar incident occurred last year when a couple in Himachal Pradesh, Ashish Singha from Kotgarh in Shimla and Shivani Thakur from Bhuntar, had a virtual wedding due to landslides preventing the groom's family from reaching the venue.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, a couple in Kerala, Vignesh KM and Anjali Ranjith also opted for this unique solution to tie the knot: a virtual wedding ceremony conducted over Zoom.
