Ayush Jaiswal, residing in the US, reported on X that his 64-year-old father, Rajendra Jaiswal, a shopkeeper in Varanasi, was facing harassment from an employee who illegally occupied his shop. After an initial lack of police response, an FIR was filed following a social media outcry. Jaiswal expressed gratitude for the online support and vowed to continue sharing updates.
An X (formerly Twitter) user recently shared a post, claiming that an employee of his father had been trying to take over their family shop, even replacing the locks. When his father attempted to file a complaint, he was allegedly thrown out of the police station, and his calls to the helpline went unanswered. “A senior citizen, Mr. Rajendra Jaiswal, 64, residing at 4/348 A Saraya Goverdhan, Chetganj, Varanasi is being harassed as hooligans led by an employee broke the locks of his shop situated at C 30/35, H-1, Maldahiya, Varanasi and illegally occupied the premises,” Ayush Jaiswal wrote in the post. He said “I'm in the US right now & it's so painful to see my father suffer with thugs trying to take up his property with Police literally looking the other way,”. “ This person is a relative who has a Gun & has been indirectly threatening for a long time. I've recordings of him cornering me & harassing me. He's constantly trying to extort money.” Jaiswal, whose X bio reads “Helping companies hire remote developers @pestotech” further stated: “It's a cry for help! If there's someone honest & wants to help. I've all the documentation / rights / proof of no wrong doing. Instead, I'm being harassed & the SHO of Sigra police station, Varanasi seems to take no action.”
DCP Kashi responds
Responding to the Indian-origin CEO’s post, DCP Kashi said “The social media post quickly gained traction, prompting widespread support online. Following the public outcry, the UP Police finally took action and registered an FIR. The incident highlights the power of social media in seeking justice when traditional channels seem unresponsive.”
