Fatal crash in Australia's Netherby claims life of toddler

A tragic incident occurred in Australia's Netherby, located in Adelaide's inner south, where an 18-month-old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle at approximately 8am (local time) on Friday morning. The child was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed to them.

The exact location of the incident and the type of vehicle involved have not been disclosed by the police. However, Major Crash investigators were dispatched to the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, as reported by ABC News.

Michael Angelakis, a neighbor, expressed his condolences to the girl's family, describing the incident as "tragic". He said, "To have something like this in your backyard just absolutely shocks you to the core." He further added, "It's the worst thing."

According to South Australia Police, the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation and has been taken to the hospital for mandatory testing. Rentoul Avenue, which was closed following the incident, has since been reopened.
