New Delhi, Jul 19 () Awareness related to use of electronic goods can reduce the number of deaths that take place in India due to electrocution and fire caused by electrical short circuits, a government official said today.
Citing a data, Goutam Roy, Chief Electrical Inspector, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) said that over 4,500 people died due to electrical accidents during 2016-17.

He said this during a campaign launched by International Copper Association India here to raise awareness on need for electrical safety to prevent mishaps at homes and workplaces.
The government has accorded high importance to electrical safety putting stringent standards and policies in place. However manufacturing of substandard products continues and people are buying. This is happening due to lack of understanding and awareness among the consumers, Roy said.

Axis Mutual Fund today said it has launched new scheme that will predominately invest in equity and equity-related instruments as well as in debt and money market.
'Axis Equity Hybrid Fund', an open ended scheme will open for subscription on July 20 and closes on August 3. The minimum application amount for this fund is Rs. 5,000 and in multiples of Re 1 thereafter, Axis MF said in a statement.

The fund offers a direct and regular plan, both with growth and dividend options, it added.

Union Mutual Fund(MF) has launched a new scheme that will invest in diversified equity, arbitrage and derivative strategies, exposure in debt and money market instruments.
The open ended scheme-- Union Equity Savings Fund-- will open from today and will close on July 30, Union MF said in a statement.
"The active asset allocation strategy that will be adopted by the Scheme is expected to provide capital growth through equity, the arbitrage portion will help capture mispricing opportunities and the debt portion will provide stability in returns and likely low volatility," Union Asset Management Company CEO G Pradeepkumar said.
