NEW DELHI: The equity markets on Tuesday once again exhibited solidity as both
Sensex and Nifty rose steadily throughout the day.
30-share BSE Sensex gained 100.62 points to close on 32,607.34 and the broader 50-share NSE Nifty closed on 10,207.70, up by 22.85 points. Thus, both the major indices consolidated their positions above key psychological marks of 32,600 and 10,200.
The stocks stayed rangebound through the day with the Nifty PSU Bank sub-index gaining more than 3 per cent.
IT stocks fared poor with
Infosys losing 1.6 per cent ahead of second quarter results.
HCL, Yes Bank and IndusInd Bank were the other losers while Asian Paints, State Bank and NTPC gained the most.
