TIPRA Motha chief meets Congress leaders as BJP eyes pact

AGARTALA: Tripura's main opposition party TIPRA Motha - led by royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman met senior Congress leaders for a possible pre-poll tie up, days after ruling BJP claimed that he might join the saffron party.

Pradyot met Tripura PCC president Asish Kumar Saha and senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman. "Anti-BJP front is getting bigger across India and Tripura is no exception," said Saha.

Pradyot met his party leaders and announced that he would launch a fast unto death if his demand for constitutional solution to Tiprasa problem was not met.

"People sitting in Delhi try to avoid us stating that Tripura is a small state. No Indian is big or small in my eyes. All are equal and same status should be awarded to people living in the autonomous district council (ADC) areas," Pradyot said.
