AGRA: Armed men allegedly robbed the house of an assistant engineer of the public works department (PWD) in Mathura’s Krishna Puri area on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, at around 12.50pm, five unidentified people entered assistant engineer K C Gupta’s house when both he and his wife were away. Their housekeeper Rajat opened the door and the assailants entered the house on gunpoint, tied Rajat’s hands and locked him inside a restroom.
Gupta’s tenants, Gaurav and his wife Nidhi, who hail from Bharatpur and live on the first floor of the house, were also held captive by the assailants.
The Gupta’s were alerted by unknown persons and rushed back to their home. They later reported that the assailants stole around Rs 2 lakh in cash and some jewelry.
Mathura SSP Shalabh Mathur said investigations are on, and an FIR will be registered based on the complaint filed by the victim.
