Stray bull kills 15-year-old boy in Mathura

AGRA: Stray cattle menace in UP claimed yet another life in Mathura on Wednesday, as a 15-year-old boy, who was keeping a watch on his crops, was attacked by a bull in Patlauni village.
According to residents, Deepak Sinha, was flung and mauled by the charging bull. He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition where he later succumbed to his injuries. Two others were also injured in a similar manner.
Deepak’s elder brother Sachin, who is preparing for joining the Air Force, told TOI that his brother went to the field around 7 am on Wednesday, when the incident happened.He said that they have wheat crop on seven bighas of land.
“My brother went to check the field and saw a bull there and tried to shoo it away. The bull charged towards him and attacked him”, he said.
He said they were informed by the owners of the neighbouring fields. He said that Deepak was the youngest among the siblings and was studying in class IX in Mathura. "My father Chandrapal is totally shattered. He’s not willing to believe that Deepak is no more," said a sobbing Sachin.
A local resident, Gokul Singh said that despite the round-the-clock vigil by the farmers on their fields, stray animals are destroying crops. He said such attacks have become very frequent.
He said the local administration has made no arrangements to help the farmers from this menace. Another agitated farmer from the same village, Puran Singh, said that the administration should provide some facility for the stray cattle or take them away as the they had made life difficult for all. He said that four people have been injured by the stray animals in the past three days.
When contacted, Mathura district magistrate Sarvagya Ram Mishra admitted that the problem needs a cure and said that almost a dozen cow shelters are under construction. He said that five of them in the nagar panchayat area will be functional in a couple of days. "The Administration is trying to resolve the issue on priority, but we need public support," he said.
Earlier, in September 2017, a class XII girl student in Lakhimpur Kheri was killed as a roadways bus ran over after she fell from her bicycle when hit by a stray bull. In October last year, a police constable of UP dial 100 team died after he was injured by a bull in Goal city in Lakhimpur.
