32-year-old woman engineer beaten, abused over two-wheeler parking dispute in Gujarat's Chandkheda

An argument over two-wheeler parking in Chandkheda escalated into a violent clash between a deputy engineer and an ayurveda clinic operator. The engineer alleges that Prem Gupta, the clinic operator, verbally abused her and physically assaulted her and her husband. She further accused Gupta and his staff of molestation, assault, and property damage, leading to a police complaint.

AHMEDABAD: A dispute over two-wheeler parking turned into a clash between an ayurveda practitioner and an engineer in Chandkheda on April 18. The incident was reported to Chandkheda police on Monday.The complaint was filed by a 32-year-old woman working as a deputy engineer with the state govt. She stated that she and her husband, an assistant professor at a govt engineering college, went out for dinner with their two-year-old son on April 18, when the incident took place. Around 9 pm, they parked their two-wheeler on the service road opposite Gujarat Naturopathy and Ayurveda Clinic. Just then, clinic operator Prem Gupta, 55, began shouting at the complainant's husband over parking.
According to the complainant, Gupta allegedly abused her and picked a fight with her. When the complainant's husband offered to move the vehicle, Gupta allegedly continued yelling. The complainant claimed Gupta then hit her with a chappal, picked up a chair, and attacked her and her husband.The FIR states: "Prem Gupta nabbed me by the hair and pulled it violently, then beat me with a wooden object." A male employee at Gupta's clinic, Vinod, allegedly molested the complainant under the pretext of helping her, the complaint stated. Another woman employee from Gupta's clinic reportedly pulled her hair as well. A bystander intervened and rescued her.The complainant further alleged that Gupta obstructed their exit by standing behind their vehicle and threatened to kill them. He then pushed their two-wheeler to the ground, breaking the headlight and causing damage worth around Rs 2,000.Chandkheda police registered a complaint against Gupta and two staffers at the clinic for assault, molestation, criminal intimidation and unlawful restraint under the BNS Act.
