Ahmedabad: In reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Union government said there are 6.55 crore Aadhaar card holders in Gujarat, while the number for India stands at 130.20 crore.
Gujarat MP Vinod Chavda sought to know the number of citizens in Gujarat for whom Aadhaar numbers are yet to be issued. In a written reply, Union minister of state for electronics and information technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said, “As on June 30, 2023, after adjusting for the estimated number of deaths, the estimated number of living Aadhaar number holders is 130.20 crore across India, including 6.55 crore in the state of Gujarat.”
As of June 30, Ahmedabad district, with 78.03 lakh Aadhaar cards, has the highest number of
Aadhaar card holders in the state, while Botad district has the fewest at 2.35 lakh.
