AHMEDABAD: City boy Arjun Chauhan has ranked 32nd in the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE). He has ranked first in Gujarat. She scored 122{+n}{+d} rank in All India merit list. Akanksha is daughter of doctor parents - her father is a paediatrician, while mother is a general physician. However, the girl says she had little interest in Biology. Math was her favourite subject.
Akanksha, who is a Gujarat board student, said she needed to put in extra effort as the AIEEE syllabus was a notch higher in standard. "However, the difference in the syllabus can be bridged with hard work," she said.
Chauhan, who ranked first in the state, is a student of Maharaja Agrasen School. In fact, he has cracked almost all the prestigious engineering entrance tests with a good rank. He had ranked 176 in the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam (IIT JEE) and he also figures in the top 500 in the entrance test for BITS Pilani.
"Chauhan has ranked first in Gujarat AIEEE. He is set to join IIT Delhi," said Pankaj Dhanuka, director of a coaching institute. Chauhan had also top rank in the National Physics Olympiad, but his regret was that he did not figure in the top five. Chauhan said he used to balance studies as well as coaching for the national entrance tests. He said while he used to study regularly for five to seven hours daily, he started putting three hours extra working on the key entrance tests in November, December and January.
Rakesh Bothra, director of a coaching institute, said that 45 students from his center have ranked in AIEEE in Gujarat of which 17 are from the state board.
