AHMEDABAD: Cash and valuables worth Rs 6 lakh were stolen in 10 different incidents of theft in the city in the last couple of days. Also, seven chain snatchings were recorded in the city. According to police records, necklaces worth Rs 1.85 lakh were snatched.
Naranpura police officials said Sunil Mehta, a resident of Shrinath Society in Usmanpura has said in his complaint that unidentified persons broke into his house after 10 am on Sunday and took away cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.86 lakh.
In another incident Ganpat Jain, a resident of Purnima Flats at Ishwar Bhuvan in his complaint at the Gujarat University police station said their domestic help Prembhadhur stole Rs 70,000 from their house between 12 noon and 8.30 pm on Saturday and ran away. Jain claimed he did not have his complete name and residential address.
In the third incident, also on Sunday, a laptop worth Rs 35,000 and a Rs 20,000 mobile phone were stolen from the residence of Pratapkumar Lodha. Lodha a resident of Shahjanand Apartment in Satellite claimed someone entered his home between 7.30 pm and 8.15 pm and walked away with the laptop and phone. He claimed the main door of his house was open during that period.
Also, unidentified persons broke open the door of a house in Noblenagar in Sardarnagar and stole cash and jewellery worth Rs 49,500. In his Ambadan Gadhvi said burglars entered his house between 5 am and 2.20 pm on Tuesday and went away with the valuables.
In an identical incident, gold and silver ornaments and cash worth Rs 47,000 were stolen from Yash Complex in Bodakdev. Vinod Thakkar told the police unidentified persons broke open his front door and stole valuables between 1 pm on October 17 and 2 pm on Tuesday.
In an incident of chain snatching Ramila Gohil, a resident of Nakoda Society in Shahibaugh, told the police she was passing by Girdharnagar circle at around 10 am when two unidentified persons on a scooter came from behind and snatched her golden chain and a necklace of gold beads both amounting to Rs 90,000. She lodged a complaint with the Shahibaug police station.
