AHMEDABAD: The number of passengers using the metro crossed the six-figure mark, 1.08 lakh, on Sunday.
Ever since the launch of the Ahmedabad metro, average daily ridership has been around 40,000. Officials said ridership on Sunday increased by 55,000 over the average. Metro officials said ridership is higher during IPL matches, with an average of 70,000 on match days.

On May 7, ridership had hit 99,643.
Metro officials said on Sunday, ridership was 1,07,552 and ticket receipts totalled Rs 18.74 lakh. Officials said 20,965 tickets were issued from the Motera stadium station. Officials said usually ridership from Motera is not more than 2,200. Metro officials said thus more than 18,500 of those who came to watch the match came by metro. Officials said ticket receipts on match days averaged around Rs 12 lakh. On May 7, when the ridership was nearly 1 lakh, it was Rs 16.55 lakh. tnn
