AHMEDABAD: A trip to a pilgrim site turned into a tragedy on Friday morning when a mini-truck carrying 23 devotees rammed a stationary truck, killing 10 people, including three children and five women. The accident that occurred on the Bavla-Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad district also left 13 injured.
All 23 victims are related to each other. "Some came from Sunada village in Kapadwanj while the others came from Mahadevpura village in Kathlal taluka of Kheda district, and Bhanthla village in Balasinor area of Mahisagar," said police.
The collision occurred near Bagodara village when the group was returning from a pilgrimage site in Chotila, situated in Surendranagar district.
"Five women, three children, and two men lost their lives in the accident," confirmed a police officer from the Ahmedabad rural police.
