AHMEDABAD: The Shahibaug police on Friday filed a chargesheet before a metropolitan court in the Bijal Joshi gangrape case.
The 600-page chargesheet names 12 persons as accused in this case.
On New Year’s eve Bijal Joshi, a resident of Usmanpura, was gangraped by six persons in Room No. 106 of Hotel Ashok Palace. Joshi had allegedly been lured into the hotel by Sajal Jain,whom she was in love with, and other friends.
In the chargesheet filed before the court of magistrateK T Makhija here, Delhi-based dealer of Mahek gutkha Sajal Jain, Chandan Jaiswal, Ashok Jaiswal alias Mandan (sons of the hotel owner Pannalal Jaiswal) and their friend Sugam Jaiswal have been held responsible for Bijal’s gang-rape.
Two other accused in the case — Karan alias Dharmendra Jain and Manish Jain, both of Rajasthan — have been declared absconders. Also, Pannalal along with his son-in-law Anand Jaiswal have been accused of destruction of evidence along with Sugam’s kins — father Harishankar Jaiswal, mother Seema Jaiswal and sister Shreya Jaiswal. Anandbased dealer of Mahek gutkha Ashok Patel has been accused of sheltering accused Chandan and Mandan.
The police have also attached 2,500 pages of documentary evidence in support of charges against the 12 accused.
