AHMEDABAD: The victory of good over evil this Dussehra will begin with a bang. A 45-feet-idol of Ravana will explode at the click of a button in Paldi.
Welcome to the new age Ravana dahan. Devotees all residents of Sharda Society near Dharnidhar Derasar have made the idol, which has been fixed with a special electronic circuit.
A resident Tejas Desai told TOI, "These are modern times and we wanted to depict modernity.

Special firecrackers and electronic circuits have been used to achieve this. We have done it on our own without any help from professionals. Onlookers will be able to see each face of Ravana going up in flames one by one with a click."
He added, "With this, we also want to say that as people have not forgotten evil Ravana after centuries, the evils happening in today's world will also not be forgotten."
In another celebration, students of Pushpanjali Vidyalaya near CTM Crossroads have built a 12-feet-tall idol of Ravana. "This Ravana is of the modern times. Each of the heads depicts a current issue like corruption, terrorism, violence, alcoholism and finally the most recent one, swine flu," said school prinicipal Shyam Raj Morya.
