AHMEDABAD: IPS officer and former investigator in the 2004 Ishrat Jahan fake en counter case,
Satish Verma, on Thursday, filed an application in the special CBI court for a copy of the entire chargesheet. Expressing apprehen sion that the present volatile political atmosphere may result in miscarriage of justice in the case, Verma has claimed that he requires a copy of the entire chargesheet, because the Centre's denial of sanction of criminal prosecution of intelligence bureau officials including Rajinder Kumar, then special director, and three of his subordinates, is illegal.
He has also claimed that these attempts are not only to da mage evidence, but also “to wrongfully shield the accu sed, charge-sheeted and pro spective, from prosecution“ The decision of denial of “prosecution sanction suffers from illegality and is not sustainable in law,“ clai med Verma in his application.
