State TT season to get underway in Rajkot today
Ahmedabad: The 2023-24 table tennis season in Gujarat will kick off on Tuesday as the First Gujarat State Ranking TT Tournament will be held in Rajkot from May 30 to June 2.A total of 637 entries has been registered in the tournament which is organised by the Rajkot District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association. The new season will see addition of two India-ranked paddlers to Gujarat’s list of players. West Bengal’s Oishiki Joardar, current India No. 4 in girls U-19 category, and UP’s Radhapriya Goel, India no. 19 in women’s, have moved to Gujarat and will debut in Rajkot. In the men’s section, top seed Chitrax Bhatt is the man to beat, while in junior boys (U-19), all eyes will be on top seed Burhanuddin Malubhaiwala. In Girls U-17, Riya Jayswal is the top seed while in Girls U-15, Ahmedabad's MouboniChatterjee will be the paddler to watch out for.
