Allahabad commomorate Kargil Vijay Diwas

The Army Wife Welfare Association (AWWA) HQ Purva UP & MP Sub Area, felicitated the ‘veer naris’, whose husbands had laid down their lives in Kargil while fighting the Pakistani intruders, on Tuesday. The wives of the martyrs were honoured by chairperson of AWWA, Bala Singh.

ALLAHABAD: The Army Wife Welfare Association (AWWA) HQ Purva UP & MP Sub Area, felicitated the ‘veer naris’, whose husbands had laid down their lives in Kargil while fighting the Pakistani intruders, on Tuesday. The wives of the martyrs were honoured by chairperson of AWWA, Bala Singh.
In the presence of senior army officers, ladies, JCOs and Jawans and their wives, the somber occasion filled many with tears and a sense of pride.

Bala Singh, the chairperson, while interacting with the Veer Naris revisited the saga of gut and glory written by the Indian soldiers at Kargil. She appealed to the Veer Naris to prepare the new generation for joining the army for its unparalleled achievements. She praised the Veer Naris for the supreme sacrifice made by their husbands for the highest cause of the country.
It was reiterated that the Indian Army will remain forever committed and will always remember the contributions made by its soldiers who laid down their lives while defending the country. The program was concluded by distribution of cash awards of Rs 15,000 each to the Veer Naris by Bala Singh.
In other event, marking the Vijay Diwas, a hospital of the city in association with 6th UP Girl’s battalion of NCC paid tribute to Kargil war heroes by taking out cycle rally. Commanding Officer Col Sunil Chaturvedi and noted gynecologist Dr Vandana Bansal jointly flagged off the rally from NCC ground on Chaitham Lines. On the occasion, Major Farha Deeba, Dr AK Bansal, and other officials led the rally. The cycle rally passed through Mumfordganj, Stanley Road, Boy’s High School, Dhobhi Ghat, Kutchery, Luxmi talkies, Bank Road and culminated at NCC Ground.
The rally halted at Dhobhi Ghat where saplings were planted in memory of Kargil war heroes and some saplings were also gifted to the local residents. “These saplings will be named after the Kargil war heroes,” informed Major Farha. Over 500 people including 60 NCC cadets (girls), students from Allahabad University and other participated in the rally.
