ALLAHABAD: In a road accident, a school was hit by a speeding roadways bus near Hotstuff crossing, under Civil Lines police station, on Saturday morning and 12 school children sustained injuries. The collision was massive and the school bus toppled over while the roadways bus broke the ramp of a showroom on the roadside. Hearing the sound of the collision and cries of the children, onlookers and police rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations.
Traffic inspector Indrapal Singh Yadav told TOI, “The driver of the roadways bus was driving rash at a speed of around 80-90kmph when it hit the school bus.
Yadav added that the roadways bus was on its way to Civil Lines bus stand from Vivekanand crossing while the school bus was picking up children from the area. The collision toppled the school bus over.Locals ran towards the school bus and started taking injured children aged from 9 to 16 years out of the bus. Five school children sustained serious injuries in the accident.Traffic police said Kartikey Singh, Abhishek Kumar, Utkarsh Shukla, Abhishek Giri, Vaishnavi Singh, Amandeep and Karunadeep were injured and were undergoing treatment at a city hospital.Inspector, Civil Lines, Amarnath Yadav said, “A case has been lodged against the erring roadways bus driver in this regard.”
