Jagan Mohan Reddy formally admitted Krishna Prasad and his supporters into the party.
Krishna Prasad, son of former home minister Vasantha Nageswara Rao, is from Nandigama Assembly constituency of Krishna district. He contested from Nandigama in 1999 on Congress ticket and lost to TDP’s Devineni Umamaheswara Rao.
Later, he joined the
TDP and is taking care of the Nandigama segment which was reserved for the Scheduled Castes.
By joining the YSR Congress, it is believed that Krishna Prasad was offered Mylavaram Assembly constituency ticket for the next elections. He would have to face TDP’s Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who is now a minister in the state cabinet. The YSR Congress sources said that the party chief had directed local leader Jogi Ramesh to shift to Pedana Assembly constituency from where he won in 2009 election.
Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy interacted with the students and parents of the IIIT who complained to him about the non-payment of fee for them. They also alleged that the government had reduced the scholarship amount creating more troubles for them.
Jagan Mohan Reddy told them that he would revive the fee reimbursement scheme and also regularise the scholarships for the students.
Later, employees from the endowments department also met Jagan Mohan Reddy and gave him a representation. They said that the government had issued a GO putting a ceiling on the temple revenue towards wages to the employees. As per the GO only 30 per cent of the temple revenue is to be paid towards salaries for the employees, they said and requested Jagan Mohan Reddy to give exemption for the salaries.
