TIRUPATI:
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board member and BJP leader G Bhanu Prakash Reddy sought a probe into the corruption charges that surfaced against some TTD officials who participated in the Srinivasa Kalyanam events held in multiple cities in the United Kingdom and Europe in 2022.
Bhanu Prakash Reddy handed over his representation to TTD chairman BR Naidu and requested a deeper investigation into the allegations, as the very reputation of the Hindu Dharmic institution was at stake.
In his representation to the TTD chairman, Bhanu Prakash Reddy stated that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams conducted Srinivasa Kalyanam worldwide with the noble intention of spearheading the propagation of the Hindu Sanathana Dharma and the glory of Lord Venkateswara Swamy across the globe.
"Following a request from the United Kingdom Telugu Association (UKTA) headquartered in Wales, England, TTD scheduled Srinivasa Kalyanam events at multiple locations in the UK and Europe in October-November 2022. A group of priests and officials was headed by assistant executive officer Bollineni Venkateswarulu," Bhanu Prakash Reddy recalled.
"However, after the Srinivasa Kalyanam events concluded, representatives of the UKTA expressed extreme displeasure over the manner in which TTD AEO Bollineni Venkateswarulu coerced them to pay hefty amounts of money as Sambhavana.
As a TTD employee, he shouldn't have taken any money from the event organisers. But he demanded the organisers pay heavy amounts of money, leading to a state of aversion among the overseas devotees," the TTD board member alleged in his representation.
Recalling that the previous TTD administration during the YSRCP regime overlooked these serious allegations and allowed TTD AEO Bollineni Venkateswarulu to go scot-free without conducting a thorough enquiry into the allegations and initiating appropriate disciplinary action against him, Bhanu Prakash Reddy demanded a thorough investigation into the misdeeds of the accused official now and to restore confidence among the overseas devotees of Lord Venkateswara.
