Sridhar Reddy has named Raju as convenor for the mitigation committee after taking the services rendered by the Guntur chapter of Red cross under the leadership of Ramachandra Raju.
Sridhar Reddy appointed Bandreddy Phani Kumar of Vijayawada as co-convenor of the state-level mitigation committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Reddy said that Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) State Branch has been vigorously working for the prevention and awareness programmes on Covid-19 pandemic from March, 2020 onwards.
The second wave of the novel coronavirus infection is extremely dangerous as many people were in need of Oxygen, ICU and ventilator beds. “IRCS, APSB has been providing relief activities at quarantine centers and vaccination centers with the support of district branches and volunteers. He said that they have been receiving donations of mitigation equipment such as oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, pulse oximeters, thermal temperature scanners in a large scale for utilization to the needy and Covid-19 infected patients. He said that they have decided to constitute a separate mitigation committee to handle the relief material in order to streamline the donations. He said that Ramachandra Raju was made convenor to handle all the donations received by the Red Cross.
Meanwhile, Guntur chapter Red Cross president Vadlamani Ravi said that services provided by Red cross during the covid-19 have already been recognized by the IRCS and appointment of Ramachandra Raju to the mitigation committee was yet another achievement. He said that their volunteers have been rendering selfless services under the guidance of Raju for the past one year. He said that they have provided food, medicine kits, sanitisers and masks to thousands of people in the last one year.
