Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandeep Kaur detained at Amritsar airport before boarding London flight

According to sources, “It was decided to prevent her from leaving the country, and she was made to give an undertaking that she would not leave the country or her village without informing the police. ” After all this, Kirandeep exited the airport swiftly to avoid any interaction with the media.
While confirming that Kirandeep Kaur was not allowed to board the plane to Birmingham, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Am-ritsar, Rural, Satinder Singh said, “She was stopped for questioning and prevented from leaving the country; but the police neither detained nor arrested her."

Kaur had married Amritpal on February 10 at Jallupur Khera village gurdwara.
After this episode, questions are being raised as to why she was not stopped from leaving Jallupur Khera village, where police have put up nakas, and how did she reach the airport, over 50 km from the village. In Jallupur Khera, an uncle of Amritpal Singh who had gone to see off Kirandeep Kaur, said the police didn’t ask her any specific questions, or inform her why she was not allowed to fly out of the country.
Sukhchain Singh, Amritpal's uncle, said that it was almost an hour after Kirandeep had entered the airport that they came to know that she had been prevented from boarding the plane. “She was asked to sit on the side and asked some general questions. She was not allowed to board the plane despite being issued a boarding card,” he said.
Amritpal's uncle also said that they (police ) didn’t take any documents and returned her luggage, following which they returned to their village. He said Kirandeep still had one month left for her visa to expire. It had been alleged that Kirandeep was handling the foreign funding of Amritpal, but no case has been registered against her so far. As the news spread, a few supporters of Amritpal converged on the airport to protest against the police for preventing his wife from leaving the country.
