BANGALORE: There’s more trouble for home and transport minister R Ashoka. He’s now accused of forcibly acquiring land meant for public good.
In a complaint to the Lokayukta, K N Jagadish Kumar alleged that 7 acres, 9 guntas in Kodigehalli, valued around Rs 175 crore, was reserved for the Loka Kalyana Prathishtana, a charitable trust. He alleged the land was forcibly acquired and registered in the name of five relatives of Ashoka.
It was later converted into residential sites and sold in the open market.
Kumar had filed complaints to governor H R Bhardwaj and local revenue authorities. If the Lokayukta doesn’t take any action, he plans to file a private complaint with the special Lokayukta court.
