“We have definite clues that they belong to an inter-state gang and found that similar offences were reported from Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and other places. We are verifying their involvement in these cases,” said DCP (West) SN Sidramappa.
ACP (Kengeri Gate) Ismail Sherief said the gang would approach lonely women, especially homemakers , on the pretext of polishing their gold jewellery. “They would ask the woman to bring a pressure cooker , fill it with some water, and put their jewellery in it. After spreading turmeric powder, they would ask the women to boil the water. As the cooker cooled, they would ask for tea, coffee or water. When the victim went into the kitchen to fetch it, they would pocket the jewellery and flee the house,” he said.
