Bangalore: The ashes of Annapoorna, 16, were immersed in `Paschima Vahini' in Srirangapatna by the family members on Tuesday. The girl, who was studying PUC first year in BES College in Jayanagar, committed suicide on Monday after she was reprimanded by her mother for fighting with her brother for the TV remote.
Annapoorna and her brother Vinay, 18, were watching TV.
They fought for the remote control as Annapoorna wanted to watch her favourite soap and Vinay wanted to watch something else. Irritated by their squabble, their mother Dakshayini gave both an earful, switched off the TV, and went to attend a phone call. She later went to her neighbour's house. While Vinay went out of the house to cool off, Annapoorna went inside her room and locked herself.
When Dakshayini returned after 15 minutes, she found that her daughter has hanged herself using a dupatta, in her room. She was taken to a private hospital, where she was declared dead.
A case of unnatural death was registered by the Thyagarajanagar police.
