BANGALORE: Noted Kannada poet K.S. Narasimhaswamy (88) of the ''Mysore Mallige'' fame died here on Sunday. He is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters.
Born on January 26, 1915 in Kikkeri in Mandya district, Narasimhaswamy had his early education in Mysore. In 1934, he joined Central College and did BA. He married Venkamma at Tiptur in 1936.
He penned his popular collection of poems ''Mysore Mallige'' in 1942 which went on to see over 20 editions.
His other works include ''Tereda Bagilu'', which won him the central and state sahitya academy awards, ''Iravatha'', ''Ungura'', ''Nava Pallava'', ''Shilalathe'', ''Deepa Saalina Naduve'' and ''Haadu Hase''. ''Mysore Mallige'' was made into film by T.S. Nagabharana.
Narasimhaswamy presided over the 60th all-India Kannada literary conference held in Mysore. Chief minister S.M. Krishna conveyed his condolences.
